i was on the phone with grandma the other day and she was telling me a story that made me laugh. i come from a long line of seriously determined people down my grandfathers side, that is no secret. my grandfathers will was legendary as was his brother donnie's. we all get what we want no matter what (and sometimes we live to regret it, but that's another story) but no one can beat their sister shirley.
shirley was born on christmas day and when she was all grown and already had two boys of her own she decided she wanted a little girl AND she wanted her to be born on christmas too. my grandmother recalls that all throughout that pregnancy that's all she would talk about, and my grandmother, being the tactful person that she is, would just nod her head and agree (time has proven that to be the most effective way of dealing with shirley) thinking you can't force nature. except, apparently shirley can, because christmas day rolled around and off she went to the maternity ward to pop out her little girl. no drugs to indcuce, no cecarian, just sheer force of will.
my grandma was amazed, but figured it must be a fluke, until shirley decided whe wanted twin boys next, and dontcha know she got em. makes you wonder how much power over our bodies we really have doesn't it?
