as if i thought things in this town weren't strange enough in my last post now we have had a murder.

i know murders happen all over the place everyday, but not around here. this is the town that was the inspiration for the stepford wives, we slide along on the sheen of perfection around here. every house is bigger than the next, one mc mansion after the other, manicured lawns and shiny suv's as far as the eye can see. crime as the rest of the world knows it is virtually non existent, if you read the police blotter in our local newspaper it primarily consists of DUI's and the occasional teen vandalism, though it should probably also be noted that domestic violence is up 40 percent from last year, i am guessing it must be all of the DUI's that are making it home without being pulled over by the police.

anyway, not only was there a murder, but a most bizarre one. it started as a dispute between two elderly men who shared a room in one of our retirement communities one was 82 and the other 87, and lord knows what they had to fight about but i guess it got serious because the older man bashed in the head of the other with a blunt object. apparently the attack was so brutal that the police didn't even bother having the paramedics enter the room. the husband of one of the ladies i am currently working the tag sale with who works as an EMT said it was a bloodbath that rivaled anything he had ever seen in a horror movie. the really strange thing is that their room was right next to the nurses station and they didn't hear a thing.

it's been the talk of the town for the entire sale, which thankfully ends tomorrow, because i cant afford to buy another thing. by the time this thing is over i have pretty much paid them 300 bucks for the privilege of working 10 hour days. the work is grueling, some of the women on the team are twice my age and can easily out last me and i don't know how they do it. saturday i was so tired i fell asleep at 9 o clock! but it has been totally worth it because i picked up some kick ass shit (or as Mister would say just a lot of shit). there was an old hospital table with an adjustable wrought iron base and claw feet. i heard once that there is a type of phobia based around furniture with feet, i don't recall what the official term is, but ever since i heard that i ONLY want furniture with feet. i also got a children's armoire with an arched top, 2 insane vintage chairs, a rug, a santa outfit for stinky, a bat house, a leaf blower, a brass lion's head door knocker, and a giant trampoline.

now i can go bounce.
