i should be happy about this, but i dont know if i am, i am too busy feeling guilty for being naked, for being precieved sexually, for the way it hurts the people close to me for me to enjoy it. i should be happy, people are noticing me for doing something different, its what i have always wanted since i was a little girl. so why arent i happy?

today has turned into an unexpectedly exceptional day. as you know from the previous entry this morning i have had a sudden jump in hit counts. so i went out about my business, shopping and such, and i arrived home all excited because i found a pair of pants that fit me (a near impossible task) and took a quick peek in on the site and was floored to find the hit count had jumped another few thousand. it jumped so many that it reset itself to zero and started all over again

holy cow, someone new must have linked me because my unique hit count is jumping at an incredible rate (well for me anyway). there have been about 2000 new visitors since yesterday and a 100 since i woke up an hour ago. cant say that i am complaining really...its just surprising is all, i used to average about 25 new hits a day.

oh and speaking of links, i just got linked on the most amazing link site ever. well, its amazing if you like naked people, and if you are here on this site then you probably do. indie has all sorts of stuff for everyone and most of it its art based like mine, in fact i was happy to find links to people i have worked with in the past like terry richardson. go check it out:

last night mister L and i were watching a tv show about the mc libel suit in england. fascinating stuff. if you arent familar with the story i will give you the cliff notes here.

basically 2 people were handing out leaflets in london in front of various mc donalds about all of the horrible things that the company does. exploitation of children, the enviornment, its workers, and inhumane treatment of the animals it uses. mc donalds didnt appreciate it even though it was only a few people doing this and they decided to sue for libel. they assumed that in the face of a huge multinational companys lawsuit these two people would back down and if they didnt, well, the court case would only take a few weeks and they would be easily crushed. mc donalds has a team of lawyers and literally billions of dollars at its disposal so it shouldnt be all that difficult to squash 2 private citizens.

oooh how wrong they were. these 2people had no money and no legal aid, but they managed to drag the case on for over 2 years and sucessfully represent themselves. they won half of their verdict and if the had had access to funds to bring in additional witnesses and get some legal aid they may have won the entire verdict. truely inspiring and the whole thing is completely available on:

www.mcspotlight.org

now i dont obsess about these sort of consumer issues things but i do like to be aware. i dont eat mc donalds, or any of those fast food chain foods anymore (if ya wanna know why read fast food nation, its stomach churning.) but i hate the idea that while i might be directly boycotting something, i may be indirectly supporting it with another subsidiary. for example, i thought proctor and gamble made cosmetics and pharmaceuticals so i was surprised to find out they produce iams pet food. huh, who knew? mc spotlight has a list of other multinational companies and their products so you can make informed choices.

it's not like i am never going to have a coke again or whatever, i realize it is impossible to completely avoid this shit, it permeates every aspect of our culture, but i have this theory. see, i dont believe that we do our voting in november with the elections, i believe we vote with our dollars everyday. every time i pay for something i am essentially endorsing them, and so i have a stake in what they do. my dollars are decidedly libertarian, so they mostly go to small businesses whenever they can. i'm voting for the underdog.
