oh yeah i almost forgot in the midst of my morning mini rant that i have finally posted the finished piece in the ABOUT ME section. hard to believe something so little took me so long to complete, but it took me awhile to figure out how to fit so many things into a concise space (i am in love with concise spaces). i still left a whole bunch of shit out but that is most likely because:

a. it's no one's goddamn business but mine
b. it's too sprawling and vague to fit in
c. i still haven't made sense of it yet
d. i cant give everything away at once
e. all of the above

ok here's a funny one...last night before bed i checked my mail and there was something from sacred. here is what it said:

The American Family Association, an anti-gay organization, is doing a poll on gay marriage. They are going to present the results to Congress, hoping to gain support for the federal constitutional amendment to define "marriage" as solely a heterosexual union. However, anyone can take their poll, so please pass this URL far and wide. (I doubt they expect anyone
but their own, anti-gay members to answer it.)

so of course i went over to the site to sign the petition fully expecting to be in the minority when to my surprise i see that over 60% of those that answered were in FAVOR of gay marriage. hahaha i guess that threw a little kink into their plan...sort of like the political equivilent of going outside with your dress tucked into the back of your pantyhose.

i have always had real problems with groups like the american family association. i am vehemetly against the idea of anyone telling me what a family is. this is not victorian times where all we have room for is marriedtillthedaywedie heterosexual breeders. the world is continualy redefining itself and families are too, no one can tell me that just because i am not genetically related to people like barb, bryan, and sacred that they are not my family. in fact, thems fightin words...if anyone feels like sticking it to the afa heres the link:

http://www.afa.net/petitions/marriagepoll.asp

i personally don't understand all the hubub about gay marriage anyway. people blather on about the "sanctity" of marriage and all that but really, with a 49% divorce rate how much sanctity is going on anyway. anyone who has ever spent more than 5 minutes on the internet knows its full of people (men and women alike) looking to cheat on their significant others. dont believe me? go look at craigslist. so why do we, the not so sanctimonious heteros get to decide everything? and really, how does 2 men (or women) getting married affect your marriage? it doesn't, you dont have to live with them, see them or even speak to them. marriage is nothing more than legal recognition and whatever is between the two people in it. standing up in front of a justice of the peace as a heterosexual is no gaurentee that you are anymore likely to love your partner and treat them with respect than if you were 2 people of the same sex. margaret cho makes the very funny and well put point that if we allow gay marriage it might just single handedly revive the economy...all those fabulous weddings, my goodness the catering bill alone...

that said, i would just like to point out that i am celebrating my first anneversary with mister L this weekend. my first year of marriage was nothing like what i expected, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. it has been exciting and endlessly interesting and i am definately looking forward to round 2.

here is a bird joke courtesy of mister L.

"Picture an old cafe in Norfolk filled with old bird-and-birding memorabilia. At the centre of a throng of keen young birders sits an older rough-and-ready birder in a woolly hat and camouflage jacket, a battered pair of Zeiss bins around his neck, an old notebook, and a pint of Adnams in one hand.

A beautiful young lady comes in and sits right beside him. She looks him over and asks, "Are you a real birder?"

He looks back at her and says, "I get up at the crack of dawn, take my bins and look for birds. I wander the coast looking for birds, I walk through the woods and climb mountains looking for birds, every day I walk up to Blakeney Point looking for birds. I live on Mars bars and bad coffee 365 days a year. Yeah, I'm a real birder. Are you a real model?"

"No," she says. "I'm a lesbian. I wake up in the morning thinking how
empty my bed looks without a sweet young, naked girl lying next
to me. I bathe wishing there was a young nubile body in there with me that I could rub with soap. I go to breakfast thinking of pert little
breasts and nice flat tummies that I would love to massage. I spend the whole day thinking of nude girls and naked mature women. Yes, I'm a real lesbian." She smiles lasciviously at him and leaves.

An hour later, a pair of tourists sits down beside the old birder
and ask, "Are you a real birder?"

He looks at them and says, "I always thought so until an hour ago, when I found out I was a lesbian."

this one has a whole new flavor...a southern fried fiasco. squirrel x has got it all, more drama and plotlines to follow than your favorite daytime soap with a little supernatural thrown in for good measure. there are interesting quotes, fun links, and access to her personal recipe box, that alone is worth stopping by for.

this is rose. i found rose on craigslist, and i gotta be honest, at first i didnt really like her, but something had me sucked in and i kept going back anyway and now my feelings have expanded. it's amazing to watch someone in the process of change, to see little revelations come to them on a day by day basis and watch how it redefines their world. i am proud of her and i am really excited to see where she goes next.

and last but not least, here is the brand spanking new blog for my super awesome web friend who built this site. here is the opportunity to get in on the ground floor and watch it go up from there.
